Axis-Shield operates in the two main sectors of the in vitro diagnostics industry via its Laboratory and Point-of-Care Divisions. The former sector is dominated by several large multinational organisations which provide automated analysers with high sample throughputs and comprehensive analyte menus to service the busy hospital laboratory or clinic. Axis-Shield has partnered with several of these companies to provide its proprietary assays for these platforms. The company has extensive experience with the wide range of different technologies employed by these automated systems and has undertaken both contract development and manufacturing for non-proprietary esoteric and other menu-filling assays as well as tests for proprietary markers such as homocysteine and anti-CCP. Axis-Shield welcomes enquiries from companies requiring such services. Abbott Diagnostics is a close partner and Axis-Shield has a special contract to produce its own-labelled assays on the AxSYM^® autoanalyser, the most widely placed automated immunoassay platform in the world. Abbott is the exclusive distributor of these products and further information on this range of assays can be found under AxSYM^®xtra

Axis-Shield has extensive experience regarding the transfer of immunoassays and other test technologies onto the automated analysers which dominate the Laboratory diagnostics sector. We are able to develop and manufacture kits for these platforms in a timely and efficient manner, operating to the highest standards and latest, fully audited quality systems. In undertaking such projects, either with our own proprietary assays or for commodity or esoteric markers, we have worked with the majority of multinational diagnostic organisations. In the interest of confidentiality which normally apply for OEM contracts, we are not able to list partner companies, and specific contracts, but as a plc many of our agreements were subject to LSE/OSE announcement, and these can be viewed in the news archive section of this website.
